Post Lower Wisdom Tooth: How many roots?

    Hello

How many roots does the lower wisdom tooth has? Is it two or three?

Are there any lower wisdom teeth with three roots, or is this restricted to the upper wisdom teeth?

    Thanks.

upper teeth are called " maxillary teeth" the lower one called "mandibular teeth".

wisdom tooth is also called : "third molar tooth".

the roots of wisdom teeth(3rd molars) are not well separated like the other molars (1st & 2nd).

mandibular wisdom tooth has 2 roots . While the maxillary(upper) one has three roots in general; but there is variation since it may have much more smaller divisions like 8.

    mandibular wisdom tooth:

if you want to know about the roots of other teeth ; then stare at the following picture:

    Thanks a lot Fahad.

Does that imply that extracting the upper wisdom tooth is more difficult that the lower since it has more roots?

number of roots is an influencing factors...
how strong is a tooth hold in the bone depends also on the person dentitions , health gum or not, collagen nature (genetics).

I have got two lower wisdom teeth for around 2 years now. They are not growing out and neither have they really bothered me so far. Will it remain this way forever?

sting, better have it checked with a dentist...

i had to remove all four wisdom teeth, because they didnt have space to grow... also the mandibular ones were near a nerve... so the dentist said its better to get rid of them now than later... i was 26 then...

I actually did show it to a dentist few months back and he said it ok as long as it doesn't bother me. I thought I better get a second opinion here

    Thanks

I still have the four of them. Two are really decayed, and two are unable to grow more because they are somhow titled and hit the teeth near them instead of growing up.

I'm keeping them to the last moment. I'm really scary when it comes to dental procedures.

My husband is having problems with his wisdom tooth. Yesterday the whole side of his face was in agony. The doc gave him augmentine and pain killers.
I imagine he has an infection.. when that is over, then off to the dentist. The professional I hate the most, just before the lawyers.

You know you're dancing when tears of pain and happiness blend in with your sweat.
